APC Members Rally for Political Representation in Galadima Galkogo Ward

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently held a significant protest rally at Galadima Galkogo Ward, within the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, in response to the nomination of a council chairman by the Executive Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago.
The rally was a platform for the residents to convey their longstanding grievances, highlighting a history of marginalization since the resumption of democracy in Nigeria in 1999. Despite their considerable contributions to local governance, they lamented that no council chairman has emerged from their communities.
Further complicating their plight are the ongoing security challenges, notably the persistent threats posed by bandits, which have severely affected the quality of life for many residents.
Protesters underscored that a mutual agreement had been reached by local stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, to support a candidate from Galadima Galkogo Ward.
This consensus was seen as a step toward restoring fairness and peace within Shiroro LGA. Consequently, the community was dismayed by the governor’s decision to select a different candidate, interpreting it as a betrayal of their aspirations.
The emotional intensity of the protest was palpable, with many participants visibly expressing their anguish and appealing for their voices to be recognized. They specifically called for the reinstatement of their preferred candidate, Babangida Wasa Kudodo, whom they believe has the potential to foster peace, unity, and development in their historically underserved communities.
This rally not only sought political justice but also aimed to advocate for the restoration of peace and equitable representation for Galadima Galkogo Ward.
