Citizens for Peace and First Aid Mission of Nigeria Honors Chief of Defence Staff, Marks Leadership Milestone with Renewed Call for Collaboration

The Citizens for Peace and First Aid Mission of Nigeria (CFP/FMN) has awarded a special Honor to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to national security and peacebuilding.
The award was presented on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff by Rear Admiral Olu Bankole during a courtesy visit by the leadership of CFP/FMN to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
This visit was part of a week-long series of activities celebrating one year of impactful leadership by the CFP/FMN Commandant General, Retired Colonel Igwe I. Amara.
In his speech, Colonel Amara praised the Armed Forces for their tireless sacrifices and emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between security institutions and civil society organizations in fostering peace, public safety, and national development.
“This honor is a token of our appreciation to General Musa for his steadfast service. We believe that working hand in hand with the military is essential to building a more peaceful and resilient Nigeria,” he stated.
Rear Admiral Bankole, while accepting the award on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, commended CFP/FMN for its efforts in grassroots peace advocacy, first aid training, and emergency response support.
He described the organization’s work as “a vital extension of the military’s mission to protect lives and promote national cohesion.”
This courtesy visit was one of several activities marking Colonel Igwe I. Amara’s one-year anniversary at the helm of CFP/FMN, a milestone recognized through a senior officers’ retreat, the promotion and decoration of newly elevated officers, and a closing awards ceremony that concluded the week-long event held from April 14 to 19, 2025.
Throughout the week, the emphasis remained on capacity building, team strengthening, and reaffirming CFP/FMN’s core mission — to complement the efforts of national institutions through peacebuilding, civic education, emergency preparedness, and community engagement.
The event not only celebrated a year of steady progress under Colonel Igwe I. Amara’s leadership but also reinforced the shared vision between Nigeria’s defense architecture and civic actors working towards a safer, united, and peaceful nation.
