Governor Umaru Bago Enforces Traffic Restrictions Following Tanker Explosion

In response to the recent tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has implemented a new directive prohibiting heavy-duty trucks from traversing Dikko Bridge.
During his visit to the explosion site, Governor Bago expressed his deep concern over the carelessness exhibited by some drivers.
He stated that vehicles coming from the Maje axis must not use the bridge but should instead navigate underneath and make proper U-turns to ensure safety.
The Governor called on the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps to establish a local detachment to ensure adherence to this directive.
He also urged relevant transport unions to collaborate with the Road Safety Corps to uphold traffic regulations.
Describing the explosion, which has resulted in significant loss of life, as a tragic incident, Governor Bago expressed gratitude that the situation did not escalate to affect neighboring communities.
He emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to accelerate the completion of the Minna-Suleja road, highlighting that the delay in this project continues to pose risks to public safety.
Governor Bago extended his appreciation to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Fire Service, Road Safety personnel, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers for their efforts in the evacuation of victims.
Additionally, he announced that medical staff from Minna Hospitals would be reassigned to support the treatment of the injured currently receiving care at Suleja General Hospital.
