Tragedy in Kebbi: Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Three Telecom Workers in Brazen Attack

By: Our Correspondent

Terrorists from the Lakurawa group have killed three telecommunications workers in Kebbi State, just days after claiming the lives of two police officers.

The attack occurred at a construction site in Gumki village, located in the Arewa Local Government Area, where the victims were reportedly installing a surveillance mast for the Nigeria Immigration Service. In addition to the three telecom employees, one other individual, whose identity remains unknown, was also killed.

Local sources identified the victims as staff members of the Nigeria Immigration Service; however, police reports indicate that three of the deceased were employees of Airtel.

A medical staff member at Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital confirmed that the three bodies brought to the hospital were those of immigration officers.

Police spokesman SP Nafiu Abubakar stated that four people died in the attack, including one resident and three Airtel employees.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, along with the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Kebbi, CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali, coordinated efforts to evacuate the bodies to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.

Abubakar explained that additional tactical units had been deployed to confront the bandits.

He also mentioned that the Commissioner of Police had met with residents, urging them to cooperate with security forces by providing timely information to enhance the authorities’ ability to respond effectively.
