Niger State Government Issues 30-Day Ultimatum to Property Owners Along Roads and Bridges Under Construction in Minna

By Abdulkadir Yahaya, Minna

The Niger State Government has given a 30-day ultimatum to property owners affected by the construction of roads and bridges in Minna. This measure aims to facilitate the swift completion of the projects.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, known as the “Farmer Governor,” announced the ultimatum after inspecting ongoing overhead bridge constructions in Minna. He stated that the State Government has compensated most affected residents and assured that payments to the remaining individuals will be finalized as soon as all necessary processes are completed.

While urging the public to cooperate, the Governor emphasized that the State Government will not tolerate any disruptive behavior from individuals opposing projects that are designed to benefit the community.

Additionally, Bago revealed that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has also been given a 30-day deadline to relocate its power lines to ensure smooth progress on the construction.

During his site inspections, which included areas such as Tunga, Imani Junction, the Morris area, Kpakungu, Mobil, and Stadium Junction, the Governor engaged with residents to stress the importance of supporting the contractors.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work completed thus far and expressed optimism that most overhead bridges would be finished by the second quarter of next year.

Governor Bago was accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, and other senior government officials.
