Niger State Government Refutes Claims of Attack on Governor Umaru Bago’s Convoy

The Niger State Government has denied reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media about an alleged attack on the convoy of the Farmer Governor, Umaru Bago, by suspected bandits in the Mashegu local government area.
In a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim, the government characterized these claims as baseless, false, and unfounded.
Since last week, the convoy of the Farmer Governor has successfully toured ongoing projects across the Niger North Senatorial District without any incidents of attacks or threats to his safety or that of his team.
Throughout the tour, Governor Bago has received a warm welcome from community members at every location visited. Additionally, security personnel, in collaboration with local law enforcement, have worked diligently to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the tour.
The state government expressed its disappointment that some media practitioners are engaging in unethical practices by spreading false and misleading information to the public.
Furthermore, the government urged the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, to ensure that only trained journalists are permitted to practice the profession. Those trained should also adhere to journalistic ethics, keeping in mind their role as the fourth estate of the realm and stakeholders in nation-building
