Nigeria Union of Pensioners, niger branch appeals to Governor Umaru Bago for the review of monthly pension.

Nigeria Union of Pensioners,Niger state branch has appealed to the farmer Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago to as matter of importance review upward their monthly pension.

The Chairman,Comrade Ishaku Ndagi made the appeal in his speech during the State executive Council meeting of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners held at the conference Hall Minna.

Comrade Ishaku stated that the appeal had become necessary due to the fact that some pensioners in the state are recieving below three thousand naira as monthly pension the situation which he described as pathetic and need drastic action of the farmer governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago.

He observed that many retirees have health challenges which the meagal amount can not take care of their medical expenses, hence the governor to as matter of sympathy assist in the upward review of the monthly pension.

He cited sections 173 (3) and 210 (3) of the 1999 Constitution, which entitle retirees to benefit from Increament. “Retirees to receive amounts equivalent to the amounts serving officers on the same salary grade level shall receive on retirement”

Comrade Ndagi then applauded Governor Bago’s administration commitment to pensioners welfare, adding that the NUP eagerly awaits his Fatherly response to their passionate appeal of upward review of monthly pension.

He further appeal to Pensioners in the state to embrace Retiree Medical Insurance Package (RMIP), according to him ,Niger State Contributory Health Agency-NiCare has launched Retiree Medical Insurance Package (RMIP) aimed at providing quality healthcare for retirees at subsidized rate.

Earlier in his speech the Director General of the state Pension board, Alhaji Nasiru Said Namaska informed retirees of the state Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago’s, timely provision of funds for the payment of gratuity,adding that Almighty Allah has answered their prayers and they should be prayerfull for the success of the New Niger Agenda of the farmer Governor.

He emphasized that in January 2025 the board will commence AM ALIVE biometric verification exercise of pensioners in the State,according to him the exercise will save cost for meaningful project and also to identify Pensioners who are still Alive .

” Retiree can go to any commercial bank of their choice in the Country, “just walk in and tell them you are a retiree of Niger state and you want to be captured for AM ALIVE verification and you will instantly be captured and a slip will be given to you as a prove”, he added.

He them warned that any pensioner who refused to be captured will not be paid his monthly pension.
