Niger Assembly Advices to Stop Witch Hunting Contractors On Sites
The 10th Niger State House of Assembly has been advised to stop threatening contractors handling various contracts of ongoing works in the state by hiding under oversight functions with flimsy excuses.
A concern Nigerlite Comrade Kasimu Ndama Kpotun made this known during an interview with some journalists in Minna, described as consistent witch hunt and empty threats against the contractors should be stopped forthwith.
Ndama Kpotun explained that the contractors and MDAs remain focused,
committed, steadfast and refused to be distracted however insisted in continuing their work to meet up their contractual agreements haven received their funds.
According to him, the Lawmakers should cross check themselves of their genuineness in enhancing state growth and development and not for selfishness or for self-aggrandizement, alleging that the same House of Assembly used just
one week to pass the twenty-twenty-four budget appropriation without proper scrutiny.
He argued the competence, ability and integrity as well as unbiased investigation of the exact situation of things to the benefits of the state, urging them to retrace their step to ensure their integrity and confidence of the public, saying that Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s agenda should not be drawn backwards.
Kpotun insisted that the lawmakers are not asking why the state ministry of works in-house engineers are not fully involved in the monitoring and
supervision of ongoing works as mandated, alleging that something is fishy if that is the true picture of acclaimed irregularities and poor performance.
The contractor Think Lab Group, Architect Jibrin Danlami Musa confirmed no sharp practices and assured of contract specifications having received
over fifty- percent of advance payment from the state government.
It could be recalled that the Niger state house of assembly committee on works and that of health chaired by Suleiman Gomna and Umar Nasir for the second time threatened the contractor handling the ongoing IBBU Teaching Hospital Minna for substandard work but the work had continue unabated.
