ADC alleges interference of Ex Minister Solomon Dalung of undermining the party unity

Yakubu Busari

The Plateau  State Chairman  of the  African Democratic Congress (ADC), Plateau State Chapter,Hon.Farmer Dung Daweng Pam has alleged that  a group parading themselves as a caretaker committee  sponsored by the former Minister, Hon. Solomon Dalung to destabilize the party in the state .

Farmer Pam disclosed this in a press conference held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026

at the  Party State Secretariat, Kalwa Shopping Complex, Along Yakubu Gowon Way, Zarmaganda, Jos.

The Plateau State Chapter clarified their  position  that the Former Minister Solomon Dalung  is responsible for promoting acrimony and division within  the State.

Pam stressed that the fake group  has no constitutional recognition within the structures of the African Democratic Congress in Plateau State by calling on the people to disregard his voice .

According him ,”We also have credible information that certain individuals have been strategically planted by the ruling APC to infiltrate our party and sow seeds of division. While such tactics are not uncommon in politics, we wish to assure our members that the leadership of the party remains vigilant.

“Appropriate constitutional and disciplinary measures will be taken against anyone found working against the collective interest of the party”,he added.

Pam noted that the press conference was  to address recent developments within our party in Plateau State and to set the records straight regarding deliberate attempts by certain individuals to destabilize the unity, peace, and progress of our great party.

He pointed out that some unpatriotic elements, allegedly working in collaboration with external political interests, made desperate efforts to hijack the internal affairs of the party for selfish political gains.

Adding that their objective was to create confusion, undermine the democratic process, and frustrate the legitimate mandate freely given to our governorship candidate, Brigadier General John Sunday Sura.

However, we are pleased to inform Nigerians and the entire world that their mission failed completely.

The State Working Committee (SWC), together with members of the State Executive Committee, party elders, stakeholders, and the seventeen Local Government Area Chairmen, stood firmly together and resisted every attempt to manipulate the affairs of the party. Their unity and commitment ensured that the integrity of our party was preserved.

To further protect the mandate of our governorship candidate, the leadership of the Plateau State Chapter embarked on a strategic visit to the National Headquarters of our great party in Abuja.

The delegation held fruitful consultations with the national leadership and successfully defended the authentic outcome of the governorship primary election.

During our visit, we held productive meetings with the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the Deputy National Chairman, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, and other respected national stakeholders, including Baba Kashim Imam, Senator Dino Melaye, Hajiya Naja’atu, and the pioneer National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu.

We also paid a condolence visit to the running mate of our presidential candidate, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, before concluding our engagements with our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at his Abuja residence.

These engagements reaffirmed the commitment of the national leadership to justice, internal democracy, and respect for due process. As a result, the desperate attempt by certain individuals to present fake governorship primary election results and fraudulently substitute the duly nominated governorship candidate was successfully blocked.

The legitimate mandate of Brigadier General John Sunday Sura was protected, and the conspiracy against the wishes of party members was completely defeated.

Their activities do not represent the interest of our party. From all indications, they have consistently acted in ways capable of weakening the party and advancing the interests of our political opponents.

We therefore regard them as political hirelings whose actions are inconsistent with the objectives and aspirations of the African Democratic Congress.

Furthermore, the Plateau State Chapter strongly condemns the abusive and disrespectful comments recently made on social media by the former Minister, Hon. Solomon Dalung, against one of the respected national leaders of our party, Baba Kashim Imam.

Those unfortunate remarks are entirely personal to him and do not reflect the values, culture, or position of the African Democratic Congress in Plateau State.

We therefore completely dissociate ourselves, our members, supporters, and the good people of Plateau State from those derogatory statements. Our party believes in respectful political engagement and recognizes the immense contributions of our national leaders to the growth of the ADC.

We sincerely appreciate the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the Deputy National Chairman, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, members of the National Working Committee, our respected stakeholders, and our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for standing firmly on the side of truth, justice, fairness, and internal democracy.

Their commitment has strengthened the confidence of party members across the country and has demonstrated that the African Democratic Congress remains a political party founded on the principles of equity, justice, transparency, and democratic values.

As preparations intensify for the next phase of activities in accordance with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Plateau State Chapter remains focused on strengthening party structures across all levels, mobilizing new members, and presenting a credible alternative to the people of Plateau State and Nigeria.

We are confident that the ADC will emerge as the party to beat in the 2027 general elections.

Our candidates will present practical policies and people-oriented programmes that will restore hope, promote development, and improve the lives of Nigerians.

WARNING

The State Working Committee hereby warns all individuals engaged in acts capable of sabotaging the party, creating confusion, or undermining the legitimate mandate of our candidates to immediately desist from such activities.

Anyone found violating the constitution of the party will face appropriate disciplinary actions as provided by the constitution of the African Democratic Congress.

We also advise the former Minister, Hon. Solomon Dalung, to refrain from interfering with the constitutional structures of the party in Plateau State. We respectfully urge him to focus on his political aspirations rather than creating unnecessary distractions capable of undermining the unity and stability of our great party.

The African Democratic Congress in Plateau State remains united, focused, and committed to building a stronger political movement that will provide credible leadership for Plateau State and Nigeria.
