APC Support Groups Council Seeks NDLEA Partnership in Youth Mobilization and Anti-Drug Campaign

The APC Support Groups Council – North Central has called for strategic collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to strengthen grassroots mobilization, youth awareness, and peaceful political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This request was made during an advocacy and courtesy visit by the Deputy Director General of the Council, Alhaji Lameen Aliyu, to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), in Abuja.

Addressing NDLEA leadership, Alhaji Lameen Aliyu stated that the visit aimed to show support for the agency, recognize its contributions to national security and youth protection, and encourage institutional cooperation toward national development and social stability.

He explained that the APC Support Groups Council – North Central was formed to unify support groups, enhance grassroots mobilization, promote political engagement, and back the policies and programs of the APC-led administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the Council’s goal is to create a united, lively, and people-centered political support network capable of fostering progressive governance, inclusivity, youth involvement, and sustainable national development.

The Deputy Director General praised General Marwa for what he called exceptional leadership and notable achievements in the fight against drug abuse, illegal trafficking, and organized narcotics-related crimes.

He pointed out that under Marwa’s leadership, the agency has achieved unprecedented success in seizing illicit substances, arresting traffickers, implementing rehabilitation programs, and conducting public awareness efforts to protect Nigerian youths from the dangers of substance abuse.

“Your leadership has restored public confidence in the NDLEA and repositioned the agency as one of the most proactive institutions within Nigeria’s security structure,” Lameen said.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening key national institutions through ongoing reforms in security, youth empowerment, infrastructure, agriculture, and economic renewal.

Furthermore, the APC Support Groups Council announced plans for a nationwide tour of states in the North Central region to boost party unity, mobilize grassroots support, and engage young people and women ahead of the 2027 elections.

He revealed that the Council is also preparing to host a major North Central APC Support Groups Summit, which will bring together party leaders, elected officials, youth groups, women’s organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders for policy discussions and strategic mobilization.

Alhaji Lameen urged the NDLEA to support and partner with the Council in successfully carrying out these initiatives, noting that the agency’s nationwide anti-drug campaigns and youth-focused programs align with the Council’s goal of promoting responsible citizenship and social stability.

In response, the NDLEA Chairman, General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), expressed appreciation for the Council’s concern about the growing threat of drug abuse and related crimes in Nigeria.

He voiced serious concern about the high rate of substance abuse among youths and women, describing it as a key driver of crime, violence, and insurgency across the country.

General Marwa assured the Council of the agency’s ongoing support and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of united efforts to protect Nigerian youths and bolster national development.

The visit further highlighted the increasing cooperation between political support groups and national institutions in tackling social issues and encouraging responsible civic participation nationwide.
