Daza TV and Tsalle Daya Media Services Celebrate Second Anniversary, Urge Journalists to Embrace Responsibility and Technology.
Daza TV and Tsalle Daya Media Services marked their second anniversary with a call for journalists to uphold professionalism and responsibly utilize new media tools to bolster democracy.
The celebration took place at the Bahago Sports Complex in Minna, attracting media practitioners, government officials, and key stakeholders in the information sector.
In a lecture titled “New Media Journalism: Opportunities and Challenges,” Alhaji Zubairu Abdurra’uf Idris, Managing Director of Prestige FM Radio Minna, warned that the unregulated use of social media and artificial intelligence is contributing to misinformation, misrepresentation, and fake news in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance for regulatory bodies, such as the Nigerian Union of Journalists, to strengthen regulations and build capacity among journalists to ensure responsible use of emerging technologies.
Alhaji Zubairu Idris also urged young journalists to view journalism as a sector with significant economic potential, rather than a profession of leisure, encouraging them to leverage digital platforms for income while maintaining ethical standards.
During the event, Ambassador Nuruddeen Isyaku Daza, Chief Executive Officer of Daza TV and Tsalle Daya Media Services, explained that although the organization was established in 2017, the anniversary celebration was initiated last year, making this the second edition.
He highlighted that the anniversary aims to inform the public about the organization’s journey, challenges, and achievements in radio and online television broadcasting, while urging journalists to remain sincere and dedicated to their craft.
In their remarks, Dr. Mustapha Jibril Alheri, Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, and Abdullahi Usman Laka, Chairman of Bosso Local Government, praised Daza TV for its contributions to public awareness and media development in Niger State. They called on young journalists to uphold discipline, fairness, and professionalism, emphasizing the media’s vital role in good governance and societal progress.
Additional political stakeholders, including Nma Muhammed Kolo, Special Adviser on Political Matters, and Musa D. Sarkin Kaji, APC Publicity Secretary in Niger State, advised journalists to prioritize factual reporting and ethical investigative journalism to foster public trust.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to individuals recognized for their contributions to journalism and public service in Niger State.
