Nigerian Bar Association, Nigeria Police Force Collaborate on Tinted Glass Regulation.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, received a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by President Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, discussions were held regarding the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act of 1991.
According to a press statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, the dialogue focused on fostering a stronger relationship between the Police and the Bar, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement.
The Nigeria Police Force clarified that there exists no definitive court order halting the enforcement of the Act; however, in consideration of public sentiment, the NBA has decided to temporarily suspend enforcement pending the resolution of a Motion on Notice scheduled for October 16, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State.
To further solidify this partnership, a Police-NBA committee has been established to promote collaboration between the two entities.
Motorists and vehicle owners in Nigeria are advised to take advantage of this opportunity to regularize their documentation and comply with the regulations regarding the use of tinted glass.
Inspector-General Egbetokun reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to enforcing laws fairly, transparently, and with respect for the rights of citizens, while continuing to engage with key stakeholders in the justice system.
