Newgate University Minna Holds Investiture Ceremony for New Leadership.

The governing council of Newgate University, Minna, has officially appointed Mallam Hassan Nuhu as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, alongside Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, who has been named Chancellor of the university.
The investiture ceremony took place today at the Minna City Campus of Newgate University, coinciding with the celebration of Founders’ Day and the commissioning of the university’s Innovation Hub.
In his acceptance speech, Mallam Nuhu emphasized that his role as Pro Chancellor reminds him of the university’s purposeful beginnings and the dedication that has fostered its growth. He stated that this appointment is a call to serve with integrity, wisdom, and courage.
Nuhu pledged to recommit to academic excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development, as well as to partner and collaborate with government, industry, and global institutions to create opportunities for students and faculty.
He expressed his determination to work closely with the council, Senate, and management to elevate Newgate University as a beacon of knowledge, character, and innovation.
Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, CFR, SAN, the university’s inaugural Chancellor, acknowledged in his address that his investiture is a solemn commitment to diligent service.
He expressed gratitude to the governing council for their confidence in his leadership and faith in the faculty, staff, and student body.
He called on the staff to sustain the reputation of Newgate University, encouraging them to renew their strength and strive for greater heights. He urged students to see themselves as the heartbeat of the university, advising them to avoid idleness and aspire to achieve greatness.
In a heartfelt tribute, the citation for Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama highlighted his impressive credentials and outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
A graduate of the University of Maiduguri and a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria since 1998, Chief Joe-Kyari has nearly four decades of experience in litigation, arbitration, and corporate advisory.
His service includes prominent positions such as Chairman of the EFCC legal team and Federal Commissioner at the Infrastructural Concession Regulatory Commission. He is also recognized internationally for his expertise in arbitration.
Professor Nasiru Maiturare, who represented Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Newgate University Minna, expressed gratitude for the progress made in his closing remarks. He emphasized the resilience and determination that have characterized the institution’s journey.
Professor Maiturare highlighted the significance of this investiture as a turning point for the university, enabling it to conduct convocation ceremonies and award degrees under the auspices of the new Chancellor.
