Niger State Governor’s Special Adviser Suggests Use of Tradition/Culture to Defend Insecurity

The Special Adviser on Media Strategy and Communication to the Niger State Governor, Mr. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa has called on Nigerians to return to their culture and traditional ways of fighting insecurity in their various communities.
Vatsa made the declaration when he paid a familiarization visit to the Prestige FM Radio Minna, saying that the strategy of the security operatives in fighting insurgency, banditry and Boko Haram has not yielded the desire results over the years.
He stated that various communities should adopt traditional ways of defending themselves by emulating from Lafiagi and Patigi communities in Kwara state, hence called for concern about the escalating security challenges in the country.
The Special Adviser further revealed that governor Mohammed Umar Bago does not need bill boards, posters and other campaign slogans to win his second term election but his Infrastructural development, agricultural programmes, health policies among others will serve as testament for his campaign.
He stressed that the governor’s campaign fund should be invested in to other projects because many communities across the state have reaffirmed that the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led government of governor Bago of providing dividends of democracy assuring of voting it for the second term.
Jonathan Vatsa reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Bago’s administration to support media organizations in the state for the dream of New Niger to be actualized.
He emphasized the importance of the media in collaboration with the government to re-echo the achievements and work in progress of Governor Bago’s administration Hence the need to strengthen the relationship between the media and the present government and for synergy and cooperation.
Executive Director Administration of Prestige FM, Malam Yusuf Ladan appreciated Vatsa’s visit and kind gesture of the government to support prestige FM.
He also acknowledged the repositioning of the government and posting of Jonathan Vatsa to his present office while assuring of Prestige FM’s partnership and willingness to promote the governments activities and objectives.
In his remarks, the Director Operations of Prestige FM, Mustapha Nasiru Batsari, emphasized the importance of creating a forum between the office of the special Adviser media strategy and Communication and other media organizations, especially in supporting private radio stations in the state.
