Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to promptly inaugurate campaign councils at the state, local, and ward levels in preparation for the upcoming Local Government Council elections.
The governor made this call during a special dinner he hosted for all APC flag bearers from the 25 local government areas at the banquet hall of the government house in Minna.
Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the state APC for their thorough efforts in selecting candidates for the local government elections slated for November this year.
He emphasized the importance of forming campaign councils in all 274 wards across the state to ensure successful outcomes in the elections.
He congratulated the flag bearers on being chosen as the Party’s representatives, reminding them that this is a privilege that should not be taken for granted.
The governor also encouraged them to reach out to any aggrieved party members to maintain the party’s unity. He highlighted that the party has established a mechanism through its Constitution for resolving disputes and urged members to adhere to peaceful resolution processes.
Governor Bago expressed confidence that the party would secure all the councils’ positions in the upcoming elections, stating that rigorous campaigns will be conducted throughout the state. He took the opportunity to thank President Bola Tinubu for his contributions to the party’s and state’s development.
The State APC Chairman, Aminu Musa Bobi, represented by the APC Secretary, Dr. Adamu Gani, remarked that all procedures were followed in selecting the local government party flag bearers to ensure the best candidates were chosen to represent the party.
Zakari Ilyasu, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments (ALGON) in Niger State, described the event as historic, noting that selecting flag bearers from the 25 local government areas was a challenging task.
He reaffirmed the commitment of every APC stakeholder in the state to support the farmer governor, whom he referred to as a father figure, while also calling for sustained strategies during the election campaigns.
Nma Kolo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on political matters, stated that the purpose of the dinner was to foster familiarity among members and strategize on how the APC can achieve victory in the forthcoming council elections.
