Benue Youth Association Demands Justice and Improved Security Following the Murder of an Idoma Woman in Abuja.

From Our Correspondent

The Edumoga Youth Association (EYA) has condemned the tragic murder of Miss Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, an indigene from the Olaidu community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
Tessy’s lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room in Abuja under suspicious circumstances.

In a statement released on Thursday by Alhaji Lucky Itodo, the National President of EYA, the group expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of violence against young women in the Federal Capital Territory.

Tessy had checked into a hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16, 2025, with an unidentified male companion, who was later seen leaving the premises alone.

She was subsequently found unconscious during a routine inspection by hotel staff and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

“This is a cruel and senseless act. The safety of young girls in Abuja is clearly at risk, and the authorities must take decisive action,” Itodo stated. “Tessy’s death is not an isolated case—ritualists and cybercriminals are increasingly turning the capital into a hunting ground for innocent lives.”

He urged law enforcement agencies to initiate a comprehensive investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, warning against any attempts to overlook the case. “We are weary of the ongoing bloodshed. We cannot afford to lose our daughters to these predators.

The government must address the security situation in Abuja. When the capital is unsafe, the entire nation is compromised,” he asserted.

Additionally, Itodo advised young women to exercise greater caution, urging them to avoid meeting strangers or entering private spaces for material gains. “Engaging in hookup culture poses significant risks. Such situations can lead to tragic outcomes, as this case has exemplified,” he warned.

While expressing heartfelt condolences to Tessy’s family, Itodo called on community leaders and the general public to actively support efforts to achieve justice. “We seek answers and demand action. This is about restoring dignity, justice, and respect for human life.”

The FCT Police Command has confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway and has urged the public to remain calm as officers work diligently on the case.
