Niger State Assembly Committee Reviews Road Infrastructure Projects Across Local Governments.

The Niger State House of Assembly’s Standing Committee on Works and Infrastructure, led by Chairman Hon. Arc. Abubakar Suleiman Gomna, who represents the Bosso Constituency, has begun an oversight assessment of ongoing 5-kilometer road projects across the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State.
This review initiated with six Local Government Areas in Zone B: Tafa, Suleja, Gurara, Paikoro, Munya, and Shiroro.
During the oversight, the committee examined several projects, including:
– The construction of the Tafa Township Road by Maikwato Global Resources Nig. Ltd.
– The dualization of a 4.250-kilometer stretch from Kaduna Road Junction to Emir Roundabout in Suleja Local Government Area, carried out by Snecou Group of Companies Ltd.
– The construction of the Gurara and Paikoro Township Roads by Matida Construction Company Ltd.
– The completed Munya Township Road project by Maritalia Ltd.
– The ongoing Shiroro Township Road project managed by Karph Engineering Ltd.
In his remarks, Hon. Arc. Gomna praised the contractors for their efforts while emphasizing the importance of adding economic and social value to these infrastructure projects.
He urged contractors to engage local labor, which would not only stimulate the economy but also facilitate timely project completion, thereby reducing community hardships.
Arc. Gomna highlighted the government’s commitment to constructing roads that foster economic growth by involving the local workforce.
The committee expressed concerns regarding the progress of the Shiroro Township Road project and reaffirmed its dedication to closely monitoring all ongoing construction efforts within the state.
This oversight aims to ensure that contractors deliver high-quality projects that align with the goals of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s administration.
In response, Engr. Bashir Mohammed, the Principal Resident Engineer for the Tafa Local Government Area project, along with Engr. Dave Irupe from Snecou Group of Companies Ltd. and Engr. Emmanuel Ocha from Matida Construction Company Ltd., expressed gratitude to the House Standing Committee on Works and Infrastructure for their oversight initiative.
They committed to addressing the observations made during the reviews and to delivering quality projects to the state.
