A two day Communication workshop by Norwegian Redcross ends in Abuja

A two day communication workshop organized by the Norwegian Redcross for the Branch Communication Officers BCOs across the seven states in Nigeria which took place at Delmont Hotel in Abuja has ended todayThursday.
The Communication Delegate of the Norwegian Redcross,Anette Selmer Andresen who facilitated the workshop said the communication workshop was also organized in other countries across the globe.
Anette Selmer stated that the workshop was primarily for the Branch Communication Officers to ensure that they have good and quality content from the field of work
She said BCOs are in the fore front in terms of communication between their respective branches and the Nigerian Redcross Society,National Headquarters in Abuja adding that they are always on ground and always at alert to the needful.
Anette Selmer noted that strengthening state branches nationwide by building the capacity of their Branch Communication Officers was the ultimate goal of the communication workshop being put in place by the Norwegian Redcross.
The Norwegian Redcross Communication Delegate maintained that the aim and objectives of the workshop was for the BCOs to have morden communications tools and the technical Know how as well as making connections from Abuja to the field.
She opined that it was very good idea to organize the workshop for the Branch Communication Officers BCOs across the country to equip them more to discharge their communication functions with ease for effective and efficient service delivery.
Anette Andresen further stated that Redcross really wanted good and quality content from the field by the BCOs across the country as according to her they are in a better position to do what is needed in that regards.
The Communication Delegate of the Norwegian Redcross however stated categorically that the Branch Communication Officers BCOs are very closer to the people at the respective branches hence the need for Redcross to organize such an important capacity building workshop for them.
Anette Andresen Selmer informed the BCOs that they are always expected to keep in touch with the National Headquarters of the Nigerian Redcross Society with a view to providing good strong stories and quality content to the National Society.
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the workshop,the Head of Department coordinating Communications and Advocacy, Nigerian Redcross Society, National Headquarters,Abuja , Mister Chima Nwanko said after the training workshop he was looking forward to getting more deeper stories, better Audio and Visuals from the participants across the seven states.
Mister Chima Nwako disclosed that for a couple of days, the participating BCOs are subjected to rigorous training on a story telling,identify more communication techniques for a good and quality story and executing the coverage of the story in such a way that it is interesting for people to watch a decent and acceptable content by all.
Mister Chima Nwanko then advised the participants to put into practice what they might have learned and always discharge their communication duties in line with the international best practices and tandem with the seven basic fundamental principles of the society.
Seven Branches of the Nigerian Redcross Society participated in the Communication Workshop which include,Niger ,Sokoto, Ogun,Anambra,Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi states respectively.
In his votes of thanks on behalf of the seven participating State branches of the Nigeria Redcross Society,Comrade Abdullahi A.Iliyasu who is also the Branch Communication Officer of Niger state Branch of Redcross appreciated the Communication Delegate of the Norwegian Redcross,Anette Selmer Andresen for organizing such an important workshop to them and assured that they will put into practice the knowledge they acquired for efficient and effective service delivery from the various branches.
The BCO Niger state Branch also praised the National Headquarters of the Nigerian Redcross Society under the able and Charismatic leadership of the Head of Department Communication and Advocacy,Mister Chima Nwanko for finding them worthy for the Communication workshop and hoped that such trainings will be sustained for them to meet up with the global trend in communication.
