Niger State House of Assembly Receives Executive Correspondence Regarding ₦70 Billion Bond Issue.

The Niger State House of Assembly has received an executive correspondence from Governor Mohammed Umar Bago concerning the issuance of a ₦70 billion bond.

The correspondence was presented during today’s plenary session by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda, who presided over the proceedings.

According to the correspondence, the State Executive Council, in its 55th sitting on April 22, 2025, deliberated and approved the issuance of ₦70 billion as part of a ₦100 billion bond raising program for Niger State in 2025.

The bond aims to finance critical projects in healthcare, education, infrastructure, water supply, and inter- and intra-state connectivity.

The Governor has requested the House to pass a resolution approving the conclusion of the necessary documents for the bond issuance.

Following the reading, the Deputy Speaker referred the correspondence to the House Standing Committee on Finance for further legislative action.

In another development, the House received a private member bill presented by Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru, representing Suleja Constituency. This bill seeks to regulate the activities of scavengers, old metal dealers, and panteka businesses in residential areas of Niger State.

Additionally, the House began debating the second reading of a bill to establish the Niger State Facilities Management Agency.

After discussions, the bill was referred to the House Standing Committee on Works and Infrastructure, which is expected to report back to the House in two weeks for further legislative
