Niger State Deputy Governor Commends Governor Bago for Outstanding Pensioners’ Welfare Recognition.
The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who has been honored with the title of the Most Pensioners Friendly Governor by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP).
Comrade Garba highlighted that this prestigious award underscores the Governor’s steadfast dedication to enhancing the welfare of senior citizens in the state. He noted marked progress in the lives of pensioners since the initiation of the Bago-led administration.
The Deputy Governor revealed that Governor Bago has made strategic appointments of experienced professionals to oversee the State Pension Board and has allocated ₦25 billion to address the backlog of pension and gratuities, with the process progressing efficiently.
Additionally, Garba emphasized that the integration of technology into the pension management system has significantly improved the operations of the State Pension Board, fostering a more streamlined and transparent administration.
He stated, “The measures implemented by the Farmer Governor have reformed the pension administration in Niger State, enhancing accountability and performance within the Pension Board through the appointment of skilled personnel and the introduction of an automated operating system.”
The award reflects the Governor’s considerable efforts and initiatives to ensure that pensioners are afforded the attention and support they deserve, particularly in the timely settlement of pension and gratuity arrears.
