Niger State government Strategies Partnership to Enhance Water Supply in Niger State.

In a significant move towards improving water supply in Niger State, the government is set to engage both indigenous and Chinese firms in a proposed $100 million partnership for the Minna-Paiko-Suleja water supply project.
Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed optimism about the initiative during a recent meeting with representatives from the firms, who presented a comprehensive feasibility report.
Governor Bago emphasized the importance of reviewing the state’s overall water demand and existing projects to ensure a holistic approach to water supply improvements.
He welcomed the collaboration, noting that the project would be fully funded by the contracting firms, featuring an impressive 20-year repayment plan.
Key aspects of the project include the rehabilitation of Suleja Dam, construction of water treatment plants, development of transmission reservoirs, and the integration of renewable energy systems.
Furthermore, the project will aim to improve metering systems to effectively manage water distribution.
Hamza Yunusa, Founder and CEO of Hydronamics Ltd, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate in sustaining water infrastructure aligned with the government’s developmental goals.
Baisheng, Managing Director of China Energy International Group Nig. Ltd, reiterated his company’s commitment to supporting Niger State’s transformation agenda, highlighting their extensive experience in executing energy and water projects across Nigeria since 2000.
