ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Bauchi has announced an indefinite strike to advocate for better working conditions from the university management.
During an emergency congress held at the Yuli Campus in Bauchi, ASUU Chairperson Comrade Awwal Hussain Nuhu addressed reporters and explained that the congress had exhausted all available mechanisms. Despite their efforts, the authorities had not responded to their demands.
Nuhu pointed out the university administration’s and government’s lack of readiness and commitment to address the union’s concerns, even after numerous attempts to engage with them.
Consequently, a union member proposed a motion for the branch to initiate a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action, which was seconded by another member.
