Niger State govt. Commenced rehabilitation of Minna – Tegina failed portion federal road
The Niger State Government has begun the rehabilitation of the failed portions of the Minna – Tegina federal road in Niger state
The rehabilitation is being carried out by the Niger state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Works.
Following the collapse of some portions of the road vehicular movements on the road especially by heavy duty trucks had become a problem resulting in accidents accompanied with loss of lives and property
A statement by the commissioner , Hon Sulieman Umar Ministry of Works explained that the state government had to intervene in the rehabilitation despite it being a federal road because innocent lives and property are being loss daily in addition to the stress travelers face on the road.
Hon Suleman Umar lamented that the width of the failed portions of the road has continued to widen as a result of unchecked flow of water adding that the works entail the provision of hardcore to stabilize the road.
He stressed the need for the federal government to speedily mobilise the contractor handling the project back to site in order to reduce the hardship the people are going through.
“In view of the importance of this road to the socio economic development of the state and Nigeria in general it is imperative that the government address the problem permanently without further delay”he added.
