The Niger State Government urban development board has commenced the demolition of illegal structures in Kwasuwan Gwari Market in Minna the State Capital
The Urban Development Board led by the General manager Arc. Bako Ismail Mohammed supervised the demolishing exercise stated that the essence of the action is to decongest the busy road along the market and facilitate flow of traffic due to the on going construction work on the major township roads.
Arc. Bako Ismail said, the government was compelled to resort to the demolition of the structures to protect lives as most of the buildings or structures along the road disallow easy passages of motorists.
He decried the situation in which occupants of affected structures refused to evacuate the structures despite the three months notice,
Calling on other traders who has been served quite notice to take the initiative of pulling down the structures by themselves and not wait for the government to do so as part of effort to protect their properties.
Arc. Bako how ever assured that the administration of Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago would continue to cherish the lives of residents of the state, regardless of their tribe or religion, stressing that the life of every Nigerlites is of great value as the governor is personate to rebrand Niger through the initiative of new Niger policy.
Some of the affected traders lamented that they had occupied the market area for years and had no place to move to,appealing to government to provided them with alternatives space to continue their legitimate businesses adding that many families have their means of livelihood destroyed.
