High court suleja restrains police from arrest of farmers in Niger.
A High Court sitting in Suleja have restraint police in Niger state from indiscriminate arrest and detention of farmers in Gawu Babangida, Gurara local government area of the state.
The community applicants got the court verdict on Monday twenty third of September, twenty twenty four presided over by honourable justice Aishetu Wodu Bawa of High Court Three in Suleja.
Justice Aishetu Bawa gave the verdict upon hearing motion Ex-parte brought pursuance to section thirty four sub section one and section forty six of the of the nineteen ninety nine of Nigerian constitution order four, rule three of the fundamental rights two thousand and nine
According to the judgement, the restraining of the plaintiffs or respondents either by themselves, agents, or privies whatsoever called from further infringement over the rights of the applicants either by arresting, detaining, harassing, degrading st the instance of the first respondent (police).
The Court however granted the requests of the complainants as prayed after duly consideration.
The suit no:NSHC/SD/207M/2024 was between three applicants to include; Yahaya Dagaci Baji, Saidu Abdullahi and Haliru Abdullahi against Shuaibu Isah Bodari two other Police officers in Gawu Babangida Divisional Police Station who are SP Adamu Hussaini and DSP Ahmed Musa, the Suleja Area Commander and Niger state police commissioner, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman respectively.
With this judgement the residents of Gawu Babangida communities in Gurara local government area of Niger state will rest from consistent and unlawful arrest, detention and harassment by the Nigerian police serving in the area.
