Niger House of Assembly standing Committee on Public accounts calls for synergy amongst LGAs.
The Niger state House of Assembly standing Committee on Public Account has called for synergy between local government areas and the internal Auditors of the Council’s.
The appeal was made by the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Andrew Doma, Member Representing Shiroro Constituency during the Commencement of the Consolidated Financial Statements and Report of the Auditor – General of Local Governments for the Year ended 31st December, 2022 held today at the Assembly Complex in Minna.
The Chairman of the Committee Hon. Andrew Doma,in his 0peniing remarks assured the various Local Government Councils Committee’s readiness to do the needful in considering the Audited report.
Hon. Doma explained that the interface with the 25 Local Government Councils is for them to defend the observations/ quarries made on their respective final accounts by the Auditor – General as required by the Constitution, adding that the exercise is not an attempt in whatever guise to witch-hunt anybody.
He stated that there is need for Synergy between the Local Government Councils and the Internal Auditors of the respective LGAs for proper record keeping and documentation of Financial Statements of their Councils.
He then assured the 25 Local Government Councils Chairmen of the Committee’s continuous support and cooperation at all times.
In his Remarks, the ALGON Chairman who also doubles as the Chairman of Agwara Local Government Council, Hon. Iliyasu Zakari, appreciated the Chairman and Members of the House Standing Committee on Public Accounts for the interface .
He stressed that the exercise is a normal routine exercise that the councils are already use to as an annual constitutional provisions in line with the Committee’s mandate
He mentioned that So far the Local Government Councils that have been considered include Agwara, Borgu, Mashegu , Kontagora, Mariga, Wushishi, Rijau and Magama all from Zone C respectively.
