Niger State Govt. commences payment of gratuities to local Govt. Retirees.
The Niger State Pension Board has commenced payment of gratuity to the first Batch of the local government Retirees across the three Senatorial district of the state.
The Special Adviser Political Matters, Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo while performing the symbolic presentation of Cheques to two hundred and eighty nine retirees from zone B called on them to make judicious use of the money.
Alhaji Mohammed Nma kolo who was represented at the Flagg off ceremony by the Coordinator Administration in the Office of the Special Adviser Political matter, Musa B Mohammed, commended the retiree for their patience for staying so long without been paid by the past administration.
He assured that the administration of Farmer Governor, Mohammad Umar Bago is aware of the plights of Retirees in the state, adding that their contribution to the state will not go on noticed.
Nma kolo,said they should see the Cheques issued to them, more than a financial support, but government appreciation of their selfless service rendered their fathers land. adding that he have the belief that the money will bring some comfort and relief in their lives.
He commended the stakeholders in the State Pension industry who in one way or the other made it possible for the exercise to commenced and assured that all retirees would be carried along in the payment exercise.
Earlier in his Speech, the Director General of Niger state Pension Board, Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska,disclosed that the issuance of cheques to beneficiaries whose names appeared on the lists had commenced in the three senatorial zones of the state on the 30/7/2024.
He stated that retirees from Zone A will receive their cheques in Bida at the local government Secretariat, Zone B will receive their cheques at the Pension Board headquarters and Zone C will receive their own cheques in Kontagora.
Alhaji Nasiru Namaska disclosed that a total number of two hundred and eighty nine retired beneficiaries that were captured in the first batch, where picked on first come, first to be serve basis and assured retirees not to panic,assured that “without retiree knowing any body but God, his name will make the list ”
“I want to particularly commend You for your patience and maturity exhibited during the biometrics data re-capturing exercise, without the biometrics data re-capturing exercise the board wouldn’t have gotten it right”.
He further assured that very soon lists of second batch of the State retirees will be out,follow by the second batch of the local government retirees for payment, adding that all retiree will receive their gratuities in full and not in percentages to enable them utilize it judiciously.
