GOSSKOBA call on State Govt. to increase funding in Public Schools
The Boys Association of Government Secondary School Kontagora (GOSSKOBA), Class of 1984, has called on Niger State government to ensure continuous maintenance of facilities schools and increase funding in Schools.
The Chairman of the occasion Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed, who is also a former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, made the call at the 40th anniversary of Class ’85 Held at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Hall in Minna, Niger state.
He also called on the State government to ensure that facilities are in good condition and in good shape including of Government Secondary School Kontagora.
Ahmed commended Class of ’84 for continuous commitment to the upliftment of the standard of infrastructure in the School.
In his welcome address, Professor Idris Abdullahi, Chairman of GOSSKOBA Class of ’84, said the event was to honour seniors that have impacted meaningfully on the students and the school as a whole since after graduation.
He added that the event was also to unveil and launch the compendium and tributes as well as 11th consecutive annual general meeting.
Abdullahi commended members of the association for their contributions, adding that 85 per cent of infrastructural development in the School was done by the alumni.
He revealed that part of the boarding school was completely opened with fence leaving the school vulnerable to trespassers and unwanted elements, hence need for government intervention.
He called on the state government and we’ll to do individuals to support the school in the provision of facilities, learning materials and scholarship for indigent students.
In his speech the National President of GOSSKOBA, Alhaji Bala Jibo commended class of 84 for the foresight to bring together members with a view of fostering unity and oneness.
He called on other sets of the school to emulate Class of 84″ in embarking on selfless programmes for the overall growth and development of the school.
