NGOs, Corporate Organisations urged to assists IDPs in Niger State.

The Niger State Commissioner of the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, NG has appealed to Individuals, Corporate and Non Governmental Organizations to come to the aid of the Internally Displaced Persons and People with Special needs in Niger State.
The State’s Commissioner Ahmed Baba Suleiman Yumu made the passionate appeal while receiving on a visit the Founder and Chief Executive of Epic Charity Foundation Nigeria, Baranga Opakumo Mathew Wenke Jnr in his office in Minna yesterday.
The Commissioner asserted that as a donor driven Ministry created by Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago , the ministry is poised in reminding organizations and individuals to assist the IDPs and those with special needs in the areas of assistive aides, conducive IDP camps and other social and health amenities to reduce the hardship faced by them. He stressed that Niger State with a very vast landmass, and incessant insecurity bedevelling some part of the area there is needs to get support from local, national and international charity organizations as efforts made by the State’s government won’t be enough adding that construction of permanent IDP camps, construction of schools and health facilities, drilling of boreholes are critically needed
Responding to the Commissioners request, Founder and CEO of the Epic Foundation Baranga Opakumo Mathew Wenke Jnr expressed his happiness with the creation of the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management by the Niger State government pointing out that the wisdom by the Governor in creating the ministry will attract donors worldwide for the people.
Baranga Wenke Jnr assured of his foundation’s preparedness to grant the Commissioner’s request without delay as according to him officials of the foundation will commence needs assessment tour to IDP camps and social institutions in the state for prompt action.
Wenke Jnr commended the commitment of the management and Staff of the ministry for being in the office to receive him and his team despite the public holiday declared in the state asserting that as a critical ministry with range of mandates, the Staff must be willing to work all days of the week as humanitarian work is a serious business .
