Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP appeals to the Farmer Governor to settle Retirees Gratuity.

Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Niger State council has appealed to Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago in the spirit of Ramadan settle the benefits of its members in the state.
This was contained in a letter to the governor signed by the state secretary of NUP; Abdullahi Baba Sani dated 15th March, 2024 made available to newsmen in Minna.
The Union explained that pensioners are really suffering and feel abandoned because their benefits that were not settled, hence a passionate appeal to Farmer Governor Muhammed Umar Bago to do the needful.
It listed some of the critical and fundamental benefits of the retirees to include, payment of gratuity, consequential adjustment of the monthly pension as approved by the federal government since 2019, harmonization of monthly pension and settlement of contributory pension scheme, arrears, wage award among others.
The statement also plead to the Niger state government to as a matter of urgency do the needful in order to avert industrial crises and disharmony, and also implored the union members to cooperate and show understanding by allowing the union pursue their legitimate rights accordingly.
