Hajiya Fatima Bago donates N250, 000.00, Fifty bags of grains to Old Prison Minna.
The wife of the Niger State Governor,Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago has commended the Nigeria Correctional Service, Niger command for the introduction of Islamic and Christian religious studies at the Center.
Hajiya Fatima Bago made the commendation at the 3rd Walimat graduation ceremony of Inmates at the Old Prison minna, while appealing to them to utilise the islamic knowledge acquired to turn to God and to see their graduation as a stepping stone towards a new chapter in live.
She stated their commitments to become better person and to memorize the glorious Qur”an is not only commendable but serves as an inspiration to the general public, “it is a testament of your determination to become better individuals”.
“If you finished your tenure in this center, I urge you to key in with the New Niger state Agenda of the present administration.
The First Lady re-emphasize the government determination to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance the living conditions of all citizens, including those within custodial center in the state.
She made a passionate donation of twenty bags of rice and thirty bags of maize to Minna old Prison with sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira ( 250,000.00 ) to the graduants and their instructors.
About sixteen inmates comprising of twelve male and four female graduated and where awarded certificate at the graduation ceremony.
Earlier in his opening remarks the Controller of Correction, Mohammed Hamisu appeals to Niger state government to assist in resuscitation of existing boreholes at the Prison, according to him none among the three boreholes is functioning which according to him need urgent state government intervention.
CC Hamisu also called on well to individual to come to the aid of custodial centers across the state with instructional materials and tools that would facilitate their work in remodeling inmates to steer clear of criminality and be self reliance when they finished their jail term.
He also tasked the graduants to utilises the opportunity given them to recite and memorize the glorious Qur”an and other skills while in the Correction center to be good ambassador.
