Yorubas In Northern States Sues For Peaceful Coexistence In Nigeria
The Yorubas in the 19 Northern States and and the Federal Capital Territory have advocated for peaceful Coexistence among the various ethnic nationalities in the country.
The President General of the Council Dr Jimpaq Ayelangbe who made the advocacy while speaking at the Congress of the organisation held at the Conference Hall of Dallas Hotel Kano at the weekend said peaceful Coexistence will engender rapid socio economic development of the country.
Ayelangbe said it was only through peace and unity that progress lcould be achieved in the country
He also asked for a deliberate and sustainable action plan by the Yorubas, particularly the elites to strengthen the region in unity, peace, and harmony urging them to avoid any thing that can cause violence among them and other in the society.
He reminded them of the sacrifices of the Yoruba heroes and heroines to the socio economic and political development of the country saying these sacrifices should not be allowed to go in vain.
The Women Coordinator in the I9 Northern States , Deaconess Adeyinka Adebayo, described Yoruba as a great people with the most respected culture and tradition and a unique language that spreads even beyond the shores of Nigeria adding that the struggle for the decolonisation of Yorubaland is a collective effort and responsibility that should be based on the best approach geared towards restoring the lost glory of the Yoruba race.
The Deputy president General North East Chief Wiliams Alabi JP, Deputy President General North west Chief James Olorunfemi, Secretary General Alhaji Tunde Aliagan, National publicity Secretary Alhaji Yunusa Alao Muhibi and the Council adviser AbdulRauf Adejare among Others attended the congress.
