Niger Govt. to lmproves the Standard of teaching and learning in Schools – HOS.
Members of the Nigeria union of Teachers ( NUT ) Niger State wing have been enjoined to remain united and to work as a team for a better productivity in their choosen profession.
‘The Chairman,Comrade Mohammed Adamu Akayago stated this in an address delivered at a one day interactive session for the Executives of All Nigeria confederation of Principals of secondary schools ANCOPSS with a theme,internal Democracy in trade Union ,the NUT Perspective,that holds at the Teachers House,Tunga Goro Minna on Thursday.
The Chairman,Comrade Akayago said the theme of the interactive session was carefully choosen to engage them in training Programmes that would boast their interlectual capacity with the zeal for understanding the dynamics and the challenges facing them as leaders with the aim of addressing them.
He said in an attempt to bridge communication gap amongst the members of the ANCOPSS and AOPSHON were coopted into the standing committees of the Union Policy decision making body to bring an end to the issue of splinter groups in the union.
He further stated that the union in the state is one amongst the few states in the country that have adopted a conventional electoral arrangement for it’s state elected officers and Branches,where both Primary and Post primary school Teachers are treated as one indivisible family.
He added that the interactive session will go a long way to boast their knowledge for a better service delivery in the educational sector .
The state Head of Service, Alhaji Abubakar Salisu, in his speech during the session, assured them that the State government would intensify the capacity-building of teachers to enable them to discharge their responsibilities as expected of them.
The Head of Service who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Human Resources, Alhaji Aliyu Goro, challenged them to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their duties as the government is determined to improve the standard of teaching and learning in schools in the state.
During the interactive session,the Chairman of the union Comrade Mohammed Adamu Akayago received Award of Merit by the Millennium Africa Global Initiative MAGA.
While presenting the Award, Ambassador Mohammed M. Saganuwa, the North Central Coordinator said the Outstanding leadership Award is in the recognition of the Chairman’s selfless service to the Union and by extension the humanity.
