UK CONSULTANTS WORKING TO SECURE GRANTS FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN , MEETS NIGER STATE GOVERNOR.
It is promising development aimed at addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Niger State, as renowned UK- based consultants who specialize in securing grants for educational initiatives, Nkeiruka Ibraheem and Dr. Olusegun Okewo met with the Executive Governor of Niger State, RT. Hon. Mohammad Umaru Bago at Government House yesterday.
During the meeting with the Governor at his office, he acknowledged the consultants as key partners in their mission to improve access to education for all children in the state.
The Governor expressed optimism that consultants expertise and extensive network would play a significant role in attracting funding and resources for out-of-school programs.
The Governor also directed the Hon. Commissioner to include skills acquisition and entrepreneur in the Schools syllabus and have agreed to visit United Kingdom with his key entourage based on request to deliver lecture at the Oxford University on the 9th of October, 2023.
According to him, he will leverage on the collaboration with the Universities to be able to secure scholarships to Students of the State for advance learning in terms of using Information and Communication Technology ICT facilities and the the infrastructural decay of Schools in the State would also be looked at during the visit to UK.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed who facilitated the meeting introduced the consultants to the Governor, and briefed him that She had earlier interfaced with them in the Ministry on the viability and procedures for securing the grants .
The Commissioner said the consultants will be constructing and renovating 10 Schools per zone and will begin on the spot visitation of some of the Schools.
Dr. Hadiza opined that the meeting with the Governor signified the government’s commitment to finding sustainable solutions for ensuring access to quality education for all children in the state.
Nkeiruka Ibraheem, who is the CEO NEASDEN COLLEGE and the lead consultant with expertise in education funding and program developments, told the Governor that the out -of -School Children development program is basically focusing on children fundamental growth
She said the intention is to create a different type of resources to support out -of -school children and fashion ways to basically get them back to School.
In addition to that, Nkeiruka Ibraheem will also be responsible for creating awareness and generating support for out-of-school programs within the state, through targeted campaigns, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.
Consequently, the consultants will work closely with local stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of education and the available opportunities for out-of-School Children.
As the collaboration unfolds, it is hoped that the combined efforts of the state government and Nkeiruka’s will yield substantial funding opportunities and raise awareness about the importance of education, ultimately leading to a significant reduction in the number of out-of-school children in the state.
