Palliative :Twelve year old boy and his grand Mother shot by Poliice in Rijau LGA.
Police in Rijau Divisional office deployed to Sale Mai agogo Palliative distribution center in the area shot a twelve years old Sani Danlami and his grand mother Nna who sustained serious injury as people scrambled over palliatives commodities in the area.
The Police shot the victim on Sunday, during the distribution of palliative.when a skirmish engulfed at Sale Mai agogo distribution unit in Rijau Local government area of Niger State.
It was gathered that the Police shot sporadically into the air in an efforts to dispersed the crowd, stray bullet hit Sani Danlam and his grand mother Nna who are an Internally Displaced Person from Inana village on their right hands while heading to the palliative distribution center.
Fielding questions from Journalists, the Chairman palliatives distribution committee in charge of Rijau local government Dr. Tukur Bello, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Primary and Tertiary Health care stated that the police in an efforts to restore normalcy at the center decide to shot in the Air which eventually hit the victims who were rushed to a. nearby clinic for an emergency medical attention before the boy who sustained serious injury was later Refered to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna for further medical care.
Dr. Tukur also disclosed that the skirmish was as a result of some miscreants who came to the palliative collection units and carted away some of the paliiatives iterms from the unit which resulted in the Police shooting.
Dr. Tukur Bello, revealed that in an effort by the police to control the mammoth crowd they shot in the air” unfortunately, the stray bullet hit the little boy who is an Internally displaced person [IDP]’ .
” We. rushed them to one of the clinic for emergency medical attention, the grand mother who sustained minor injury was treated and discharged’.
The Governor of Niger state Mohammed Umar Bago on receiving the information directed that everything humanly possible should be done to save their lives and ensure that the victims are given full medical attention.
‘ we are here with one of the victims under the directives of Mr Governor Umar Bago And we thank God the boy is given the needed medical attention and is now recuperating” he told Journalists.
He further disclosed that the Divisional police officer incharge of Rijau Divisional office has taken the police officer who shot the boy and his grand mother into custody for investigation.
