CONTROLLER OF CORRECTIONS, BIDS FAREWELL TO THE NIGER STATE GOVT .
The controller of Corrections, Nigerian correctional service, Niger State command, Salman Abdulkadir fsi, has today, Thursday 10th August,2023 bid farewell to the secretary of the Government of Niger state Alh. Abubakar Usman Gawu in his office.
The controller stated that the puporse of the visit was to express his appreciation and gratitude for the support and cooperation he enjoyed from the government and good people of the state during his tenure as the controller of the command.
CC Salman equally used the medium to enumerates some of his legacies which added value to the state and the service in particular. He informed the SSG that, with the support he received from the Controller General of Correctional service, Haliru Nababa, FICMC, MFR, mni, he was able to attract more developmental projects to the command which includes, amongst others, the renovation and rehabilitation of staff quarters in Minna the state capital, New Bussa, Bida, Kontagora and the construction of the permanent site of the state command headquarters that is presently ongoing.
The retiring controller added that the synergy and collaboration with sister security agencies and other key stakeholders has helped him in strenghtening the security architecture of the custodial centres accross the state devoid of security breach, jail break or riot through out the period of his assumption of duty to date.
He therefore, appeal to the state government under the able leadership of the Executive Governor of Niger state, His Excellency RT. Hon.umar Mohammed Bago to extend and sustain the magnanimity he enjoyed to his successor in order to efficiently and effectively realize the core mandate of the service to Reform, Rehabilitates and Reintegrates offenders back to the society as productive and law abiding citizens.
He further informed the SSG that the state command has received the approval of the National headquarters to establish the study centre of the National Open University (NOUN) in the state Correctional formations in addition to the existing vocational training programs for the empowerment of inmates after their sentences.
Responding, the secretary to the Government of Niger state Alh. Abubakar Usman thanked the controller for the visit, assuring him of continous support and partnership between the state government and the Nigerian correctional service for the benefit of Niger lites and Nigeria.
The SSG congratulate the controller for a healthy and successful retirement after meritorious service to our fatherland, wishing him all the very best in his Post retirement life.
Controller Salman is an indigene of Kwara state. He was enlisted into the defunct Nigerian prisons service, on the 25th August, 1988. A seasoned and professional Correctional administrator who served in many capacities. A post graduate of the famous university of Ilorin and fellow of the prestigious National institute of security studies. He is happily married and blessed with fire children.
Controller Salman will finally exit the service of the Nigerian correctional service on the 25th August,2023 after attainment of 35 mandatory years of service.
