Niger State Police Command Asks to redeploy ACP. Gawuna,Area Commander K/gora
Niger state police command have been called upon to redeployed Assistance Commissioner of Police ACP Salisu Gawuna the area commander of Kontagora or his brutalitality and injustice meted on the Kambari people in agama local government area of the state.
In a six page petition signed by 25 people and a retired Permanent Secretary at the end of the meeting of Salka elders forum of Nigeria, Mr Jhon Tamaha in Minna, dated 11th of June 2023, the group called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the state commissioner of Police,Mister Ayodeji to as a matter of urgency
order the immediate redeployment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Gawuna because of his involvement in traditional institutions matters which led to the breakdown of law and order in the area.
The group alleged that ACP Salisu Gawuna has been compromising his professional conduct in the discharge of his duty as a senior Police Officer, alleged that ACP Gawuna is being used by Kontagora Emirate Council under the leadership of HRH Muhammad Barau against the Kambari People.
In the petition the elites forum of Kambari said in February, 2023 the Emir of Kontagora supervised the physical assault meted on one of the Salka King makers by his palace guards
while the Asst Commissioner of Police Gawuna sat and watched the humiliation of the King maker.
After the King maker was beaten thoroughly,ACP Salisu directed that the victim and other King makers from Salka be taken to the Area Command and were detained like criminals.
The petition reads that, the said ACP is also a traditional tittle holder married to a daughter of one of the late Emirs thus have no option to compromise his duties to the detriment of Kambari Communities.
“We the elites forum of Salka Communities is optimistic that the New IGP who is focused with the intention to give Nigerians a renew hope and rebrand police Force will no doubt have a listening ear”.
