Fill wrong information on your asset declaration and go to prison- CCB Chairman warns politicians.

 

The chairman of the code of conduct bureau (CCB),Professor Mohammed Isah has warned Elected officials not to file false information in their asset declaration forms, as such violators will be prosecuted and if found quity jailed.

The Chairman stated this on Tuesday , while presenting the form CCB1 to some recently electected officials at Royal Suite Institute,(Zuma Rock) Suleja.

Professor Muhammed Isah who was represented by the federal commissioner North Central,Prof Juwayiwa Badamosuiyi cautioned the incoming elected officials not to default in filling the assets declaration form CCB1 as they will be liable for sanction.

 

Prof Juwayiwa further explained that it is mandatory for every elected members to fill in the form CCB1 before they were sworn in to their various offices as the importance of form CCB1 can not be over emphasised.

She explained that the bureau is always willing to count on their usual support to achieve the desired objective of the CCB as required by the law to declare assets from the beginning and at the end of every tenure.

The commissioner however appreciates the efforts of the clark of the house for ensuring that members complied in filling the CCB1.form..

While sensitizing the incoming and outgoing members,,the Director incharge of Niger state office,Mrs Deborah Charles reiterates that failure to declare assets is liable to removal from office or be prosecuted.

The Niger State Head of Code of conduct Bureau then charged the elected officials to fill in their form and submitte to the code of conduct office before 15th of May, saying the office of the bureau is always open to accommodate any complain while filling in the form.

She further reminded the elected officials to appoint people to run their Businesses not to infringe on the law that refrain them from having conflict of interest while in office and filling wrong informations about their properties.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected officials, the speaker of the state house of assembly,Hon Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, appreciates the CCB officials for inculcating in government officials acts to enable democracy flourish in the country.

The outgoing Speaker assured the agency of the State Government determination to collaborate with CCB in entrenching the culture of transparency and accountability among public office holders towards advancing the Nation’s democracy.
