Why Hon. Yabagi Umar must be returned back to Niger state House of Assembly (part one)
By Akawu Ibrahim
Yabagi Umar is a quintessential politician; a man with a tall dream for his people. This attribute has been proven by his superlative performances and track records of humanitarian service to his people and as a member representing the good people of Katcha constituency in the Niger state House of Assembly. In this his first outing as a legislature, Hon. Umar Yabagi have set an unprecedented records of achievements that has become an envy to many but a source of joy and happiness to his constituents. These manifest and tangible records of achievements, according to people I have interviewed in Katcha, can only be trailed by those who aspires to be like him in the future but can hardly be beaten. That means he’s a trail blazer
Hon. Yabagi Umar has touched the lives of the people of Katcha in many ways that cannot be counted. In celebrating two years of robust representation to the people of Katcha, he implemented and presented to the people what can best be described as “wonders” in Katcha local government. In an effort to tackle electricity problem for example, one issue that has bedeviled the community for decades, Hon. Yabagi Umar, in his first two years as a member of Niger state House of Assembly, had electrified five wards in Katcha local government and connected them to the National Grid, a feat only state or federal government can achieve. These wards include Chetuko-Bakeko ward, Dawa- Bakeko ward, Ezhiworo- Edotsu ward, Magayaki (1) Edotsu ward and Magayaki(2)- Edotsu ward. These communities, now connected to the National Grid, enjoys constant power or electricity supply, a necessity they so much craved for in decades past but lacked until Hon. Umar Yabagi came handy with the rescue.
To crown this feat, he singularly embarked on fibre crossing the 11kva lines that streched from Katcha to Baddegi junction, a 20km long. This efforts has saved communities along this lines from incessant trip-off of electricity supply and acute damage of transformers whenever the high tension wires bridged each other due to disruptions by wind or heavy rainfalls.
This intervention has ended long years of suffering faced by the people.
At Shabowoshi Kpaya village in Edotsu ward, honorable Yabagi Umar had donated over 150 concrete poles and in another place gifted a brand new transformer to Mai Wayo people in Kataerigi ward.
He also donated large sums of money to Sheshi Dama in Badegi ward, Egbanti Twaki and Sidi Saba for repairing of transformer. He also embarked on the installation of industrial solar lights at Kataerigi and also strewned the Edotsu township roads with solar lights. This is in addition to Installation of solar lights at Katcha township road.
This is just an achievements recorded in electrification projects even though there are others too numerous to mention for lack of space. Another area the legislator excelled was in the area of water supply. In this area, Hon. Yabagi Umar has cast his name in the hall of fame of Katcha constituency. He drilled a motorised boreholes at Efuedochi, Kpatoroko area of Katcha and Molmo area. This facilities are fix with new brand generators that will guarantee constant supply of electricity. That’s not all, he extended the same gesture to Efugaeichi area opposite the First Bank in Katcha and Lafiyagi Zadin village in Kataerigi ward and another one at Unguwan Mahauta inside Katcha town. Wozhi village in Gbakogi ward also got a motorised borehole equipped with petrol powered generator for constant power supply.
Here, readers should note that this awesome strides in ameliorating the problem of water in Katcha does not include the rehabilitation and overhauling of several hundreds of manual boreholes in many villages. Some of this villages include Gadan Eregi, Maraya, Gadan Ladan, Mazaguda area, Kotati, Yashin Dogo, Potungi Dzwafu, Essa ward and Emigbatako. These are proven records of performance that are tangibly visible for everyone to see. These are just in two areas that are critical and dear to the hearts of Katchalites. That’s why the good people of Katcha must come out enmass this Saturday to vote for Hon. Yabagi Umar and return a performing member to the Niger state House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress APC.
