NUJ HAS CREATED ELECTION SITUATION ROOM AHEAD 2023 GENERAL ELECTION
Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Niger State Council has created Election Situation Room at IBB Pen House Minna, ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
A Statement by the State Secretary of NUJ Comrade Usman Chiji, said the Situation Room would be manned by the Council Chairman Comrade Abu Nmodu, Secretary Usman Chiji, and Assistant Secretary Abubakar Adamu Kuta.
The Statement indicated that, the Situation Room was created to primarily receive reports from Journalists covering the elections in all parts of the State.
According to the Statement, the measure was also to enable Journalists file in reports of maltreatment, intimidation or harassment while carrying out their constitutional responsibility during this Saturday’s Presidential and March 11th Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
Comrade Usman Chiji, advised Journalists to be Conscious of their security wherever they might be covering the elections, adding that one needed to be alive before any other thing.
The State Secretary of NUJ then emphasized the need for stronger synergy, collaboration and understanding with relevant stakeholders, especially security agencies for effective coverage of election duties.
