MR GABRIEL SHIRWUA GBAYAN, DIR. AUDIT FCT BOWS OUT OF OFFICE WITH MERITORIOUS HONOR.

Mr. Gabriel Shirwua Gbayan was born to the Family of Gbayan Iordye Ikume of Ikurav-Tiev ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State on the 29th day of December, 1962.

 

 

He is the 2nd of nine children.  8 girls and the only male child from his mother who is equally the 2nd wife of his father who happened to marry six wives as a big time village farmer.

He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from St. Annes Primary School, Adikpo in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State in 1973 finishing up in Primary Six been the first set of pupils to leave in Primary Six to the Prestigious Mt.St. Michael’s (MSM) Secondary School, Aliade in the present Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State in the same year.

 

 

He further went to Government Secondary School Minna, Niger state between 1980/81 where he obtained the GCE O’Level Certificate.  In 1985, Mr Gbayan bagged a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Economics from the University of Jos in Plateau State and was subsequently appointed Accountant II with the Katsina-Ala Local Government Council of Benue State.

He voluntarily resigned in 1992 to take up a senior Auditor appointment with the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.

 

 

He further bagged his M.Sc in Public Sector Accounting at the Nasarawa State University Keffi in 2018. He is currently doing his PHD in accounting at Lincoln University College, Malaysia.

He has worked in various Headship positions in Customs, Immigrations and Prisons Pension Office (CIPPP) Gwagwalada, Abuja, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) Maitama, Abuja, Benue State Branch Makurdi Office and Currently a Director of Audit in the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.

Mr Gbayan is a Fellow of the elite Accountancy body, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management (NIM), Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), and equally a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

 

 

As an administrator, he is a Fellow of the West African Institute of Administration and Researchers.
Honoured with an excelled award from the Nigerian Accounting Students Association and the University of Jos Alumni Association, Abuja Chapter.

He equally holds a Certificate of Honour by the African Sporting Initiative, Accra Ghana and a Meritorious Public Service Award by the Accounting Student’s Association, Benue State University Chapter.

The renowned Accountant/Auditor also holds a merit award from the African Democratic Institute in recognition of his outstanding Contribution to humanitarian Services to Society.

 

 

Mr G. S. Gbayan has also made some stints in the area of sports especially Badminton.  He is the second term Chairman, FCT Badminton Association as well as a Board member of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN).

In the course of his career Mr Gabriel Gbayan has attended many local and International workshops.  He is a well – travelled Civil Servant who has traversed the entire Continents of the world auditing Embassies of Nigeria in Europe, Americas, Africa, and Asia among others.

Mr G. S. Gbayan is happily married to Jessica Doom Gbayan and has 8 Children, 5 girls 3 boys.
