The newly inaugurated chairman of Chanchaga local government area of Niger state, Dr Mustapha Jibrin, had promised to strengthen the primary healthcare system to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all through universal health coverage.
He said this during the swearing-in ceremony of the new chairman and councillors organised by Chanchaga local government area in Minna on Thursday.
The oath of office was administered by Safuratu Abdulkareem from the Niger state High Court.
Jibrin promised to provide universal access to quality education, strengthen capacity of teachers and set up adequate infrastructure for learning.
“I want to thanked the people of Chanchaga for the show of love for me to lead them, they are dear to my heart, their growth, development and progress such as their health, education, security and environment and social amenities will be prioritised, ” he said.
He said he would set up the right framework and facilitate collaboration with the private sector to ensure youths and women obtain the right skills that would increased their employability and business acumen.
The chairman promised to set up security and infrastructure trust fund, collaborate with relevant institutions to prevent violence, crimes and promote peace, as well as work as team with other executive to move the council forward.
He noted that he would formulate and implement policies such as periodic sanitation that would revamp public places such as market and motor park facilities and upgrade basic social services.
He, however commended the state governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello for giving him an enabling environment for the conduct of the elections and former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Former Head of state, Abdulsami Abubakar for their support towards his him.
In his remarks, Alhaji Haliru Jikantoro, APC Chairman in Niger, represented by Mohammed Labaran, APC Publicity Secretary, urged the chairman to replicate his achievements as former commissioner of Health to build the council area for greater level.
Stakeholders such as Mallam Usman Dantijo, Federal Commissioner NPC representing Niger, urged the chairman and the councillors to work in unity as well as carry everyone develop Chanchaga local government area which was situated within the state capital.
He advised the chairman to bring in his wealth of knowledge as a former commissioner of health and commerce and investment to execute development projects that would benefit the people.
