The managing Director Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission HYPPADRC , Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa has been commended for providing effective leadership that has positiotioned the Commission to be service oriented.
The Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Coordinator Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission, Kogi state Mrs Engr Joan Oguche made the disclosure after HYPPADRC received an Award of excellence from Built Environment and Building Materials (BEBM) exhibition for quality service delivery in lokoja the Kogi state capital.
Similarly, the Coordinator of the Commission explained that arrangements have begun for a Youth Transformation Programme aimed at empowering Youths in different skills of there choices, said about 700 hundred Youths are presently undergoing training.
Engr. Mrs Joan added that the Commission has also assisted and empowered farmers living in the riverine areas with fertilizers, said the efforts is to aid increased production, further added that the Commission has also distributed bags of rice to cushion the effect of poverty in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas.
While pointing out that the Commission is equally concerned about security, Engr. Mrs Joan further revealed that several motorcycles to aid in securing communities in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas have been distributed by the Commission in the State.
In the area of Education, HYPPADEC, Engr. Mrs Joan disclosed has concluded arrangements for the Commission to soon pay the school fees of Tertiary Institution Students in the State who are from the catchment areas.
The Kogi State Coordinator disclosed that the Commission has paid the school fees of about 2000 students from the State as well as paid the WAEC/NECO fees of students in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas since inception, described the coming of the Commission as a blessing that cannot be quantified.
In his remarks, the Chairman Advisory Council, Kogi Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibition, the BA’ALO-EMU, Oworo Kingdom in Kogi state, Chief Fejuku Benjamin Bola, described the establishment of HYPPADEC in Nigeria as a Commission geared towards making lives meaningful and comfortable for people living in riverine communities.
He described the award of quality service delivery presented to the Commission as a reward for positive impacts within the short time of its operations in the State, urged for its sustainability.
