NYSC flag off 2nd quarter of health initiative for rural dwellers in Niger
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Monday flagged off the second quarter of Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) in Niger state.
Mrs Abdulwahab Alidat, NYSC Coordinator in Niger, flagged off the health campaign at Gidan Kuta Village, Shanu community, Chanchaga local government area of the state.
She said the health initiative was to provide opportunities for free medical consultation, diagnosis and treatment of people in the hinterlands.
Alidat appreciated the large turn out of members of the community and advised them to take advantage of the gesture to access healthcare services.
In his remarks, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakili, the Gunduma of Gidan Kuta Village, expressed appreciations for bringing the healthcare initiative to the community.
He said the gesture was an indication of the fact that the scheme was mindful of the health needs of poor citizens, who may find it difficult to access medicare.
The flag off was followed by free medical consultation and treatment of the people of the community.
