NSERC Receives NDPHC Delegation, Strengthens Collaboration with Ministry of Power
The Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC) received a delegation from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening strategic collaboration and advancing the development of the electricity sector in Niger State.
The delegation was received by the Chairman of NSERC, Engr. Mohammed Sharu, FNSE, alongside the Management and staff of the Commission.
Speaking during the meeting, the NDPHC Team Lead, Prof. Stephen Ogaji, reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s electricity industry through the implementation of the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) and other Federal Government intervention programmes.
Prof. Ogaji noted that NDPHC currently has an installed generation capacity of over 4,000 megawatts and remains committed to expanding electricity supply by working closely with stakeholders across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry. He emphasized that collaboration with state regulators and governments is vital to improving electricity access and delivering sustainable power solutions to Nigerians.
Discussions during the meeting centred on areas of mutual interest, including improving electricity access, enhancing power reliability, promoting sustainable power sector development, and exploring investment opportunities within Niger State’s evolving electricity market.
Following the engagement at NSERC, the Commission’s Management accompanied the NDPHC delegation on a courtesy visit to the Niger State Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, where they were received by the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Hon. Suleiman Umar.
The meeting at the Ministry focused on strengthening collaboration between the State Government, the regulatory commission, and key power sector stakeholders to attract investment, expand electricity infrastructure, and improve power supply across Niger State.
In his remarks, Hon. Suleiman Umar welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Niger State Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investments that will enhance electricity access, strengthen the state’s electricity market, and support sustainable economic growth.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment by NSERC, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, and NDPHC to deepen cooperation and build strategic partnerships that will accelerate the delivery of reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity for the people of Niger State.
