Father Detained After Burning Daughter’s Private Parts with Hot Iron as Punishment for Bedwetting
Amos Paul, a resident of Unaun, Upenme in Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, is in police custody following allegations that he burned his 10-year-old daughter’s private parts with a hot pressing iron.
The horrific incident was reportedly a punishment for bedwetting, and the girl is currently receiving treatment for severe burns at the Federal Medical Center in Owo.
The police responded promptly after the incident was reported on Thursday, arresting Amos Paul at the scene.
The case has been transferred to the police command’s Gender Unit for thorough investigation.
Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu condemned the act, describing it as “cruel, inhumane, and completely unacceptable.” He emphasized the police’s commitment to protecting children and vulnerable persons from abuse and violence and urged residents to report any cases of child abuse or domestic violence.
The suspect remains detained as investigations proceed.
