DEMOCRACY DAY: GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO ENCOURAGES NIGERIANS TO UNITE IN SUSTAINING DEMOCRACY
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on all Nigerians to unite and collaborate to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the nation’s democracy.
In a Democracy Day statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago highlighted that Nigeria’s 27 years of continuous democratic governance reflect steady progress in the nation’s political development.
He emphasized that Nigeria has continued to evolve under democratic rule across various sectors and administrations over the past 27 years.
Governor Bago also remarked that Democracy Day is an important occasion to reflect on the efforts, perseverance, sacrifices, and dreams of past and current leaders who have contributed to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
While acknowledging that Nigeria remains a work in progress and has not yet reached its full potential, he praised the significant strides made so far.
He urged the strengthening of democratic institutions, ongoing electoral reforms, and adherence to democratic principles to keep Nigeria on a positive growth trajectory.
“I congratulate all Nigerians on this Democracy Day, a celebration of our collective victory over dictatorship.
I urge everyone to stay united, resilient, and committed to nurturing and sustaining our democracy until we realize the nation we envision.
Additionally, I call on all citizens to pray, show understanding, and increase support for leaders at all levels as they work to make the country better and more prosperous.
Governor Bago reaffirmed his dedication to realizing the New Niger agenda through responsible, transparent, accountable, and inclusive leadership.
