2027: Plateau State Farmer Dung Daweng  Pam emerges Chairman as  Hitch-Free  State Congress

By Yakubu Busari

Kalwa House in  Plateau State  became agog and electrifying in the Late  hours of April 11, 2027. The venue was  with musical interlude , fliers, posters, billboards, and ribbons in the colours and symbols of the African Democritic  Congress (ADC). Everything was set for the Plateau State chapter’s congress of the strong opposition party .

From the VIP podium to the various  designated for the 17 local government areas, a mammoth crowd of enthusiastic party leaders, supporters, and members gathered in celebration. Music blared from the popular campaign Music Stand as attendees danced and savoured the festive atmosphere.

The roll call of party leaders was extensive, with virtually all political heavyweights in the state present to witness and participate in what many described as a unique ADC State Congress.

The congress by all standards effectively united the various factions of the coalition, and into one cohesive, resilient, and formidable ADC in the state without rancour or division.

Much like the crossover of Kwankwaso, Obedience Movement ,  from the NNPP, Labour Party,APC and   PDP to the last year, an event endorsed by major political stakeholders across and beyond the state, the congress drew widespread participation.

The message was unmistakable: Plateau State is firmly aligned with the ADC ahead of 2027 were candidates emerged through consensus . The sheer calibre of attendees underscored the political significance of the former Minister Barr.Solomon Dalung , particularly at the grassroots level.

The exercise commenced with the accreditation of delegates from wards and local government areas across the state and culminated in the election of new state executives.

The highlight was the arrival of Former Minister , Chairman of the election committee cheers by Abdulkareem  Usman at about 3:30 p.m., after which he moved round the venue, greeting party faithful and acknowledging cheers from supporters.

Under the supervision of the ADC National Committee for the Plateau State Congress, led by Hon. Abdulkareem Usman , delegates unanimously elected Hon Dung Daweng Pam  as State Chairman and Hon. Hon.Eliya Zakari  as State Secretary, alongside  executive members, forming a 37-man state executive committee.

The national panel described the process as free, fair, transparent, and credible. Additionally,  zonal executives,  from each of the state’s three senatorial zones emerged.

In his address, Solomon Dalung commended party leaders and faithful for conducting a peaceful and transparent exercise.

He frowned at  the economic hardship under   President Bola Tinubu, noting that the insecurity bedeviling our people when the president failed to address it headlong  .

“What we have done here together shows that we are all members of one big family. Plateau State would be transformed into   a model of governance if ADC win ; it is also a model for politics. The marriage of parties we witnessed is not one of convenience but a real and enduring union,” he said.

He congratulated the new executives and urged them to continue to promote the tenets of democracy  -The Dalung further tasked them with effectively communicating and projects at  the grassroots, stressing that nothing should be taken for granted ahead of future elections.

In his acceptance speech, Farmer Dung Daweng Pam pledged unwavering commitment to the party and assured members of his team’s resolve to deliver victory in future elections.

“We assure you that we will deliver. And emphasized on Governor Caleb Mutfwang one tenure   in Plateau  State ,we will continue to encourage unity and oneness ,” he stated.

He urged the colleagues  to focus on mobilising and delivering votes at the polls.

With the successful and hitch-free conclusion of the ward, local government, and state congresses, the ADC in Plateau  State has demonstrated unity, organisational strength, and readiness for the political contests ahead.

The consolidation of party structures and coalition  with other political parties that this is  signal and strategic positioning of the state within the national political landscape.

As the 2027 elections approach, the outcome of the congress underscores a renewed political direction in Plateau State, one anchored on unity, integration, and sustained engagement with the centre for the perceived benefit of its people.
