Farouk Umaru Audi, NISWASEC MD, Appears Live on NEXTER RADIO 97.7 Over Minna Water Shortage

The Niger State Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Farouk Umaru Audi, along with the permanent secretary of the ministry, Akilu Musa Kuta, and the managing director of Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation, Engineer Gimba Yisa, appeared live on NEXTER RADIO 97.7 in Minna to discuss issues related to the water shortage in the state capital and its surrounding areas.
During the live radio program, officials spoke with residents about the challenges affecting water supply, ongoing efforts, and the state government’s plans to restore stable water distribution in communities within Minna metropolis.
The commissioner explained that the current water shortage is mainly caused by technical faults, aging infrastructure, and increased demand driven by rapid population growth.
He assured residents that urgent measures are being taken to repair damaged facilities and improve water production capacity.
Engineer Gimba Yisa, managing director of NISWASEC, addressed the issue in the Nupe language, emphasizing the corporation’s efforts to ensure fair distribution of available water.
He also mentioned that repair work continues at critical waterworks and asked for the public’s patience and cooperation.
The discussion was conducted in four major languages, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to transparency and public involvement in resolving water issues in Niger State.
