Niger Police Command Arrest 44 Suspected Notorious Criminals in Minna.

Niger Police Command Arrest 44 Suspected Notorious Criminals in Minna.

The  Niger state Police Command has arrested 44 Suspected notorious criminal who have been disturbing residents of Minna in recent times.

Parading the Suspects before Journalists in the command’s headquarters,the Police Public Relations Officer,said their arrest was as results of clashes, between thug’s and pockets of tricycle robberies in parts of Minna metropolis.

 

DSP Abiodiin stated that in a bid to curtail the recent trend and menace, on 13/03/2023 at about 2350hrs, the Command mobilized its tactical teams comprised of Operations Department, CTU, Anti-kidnapping unit, tactical support team, Area Command team, various patrol units in the metro and vigilante members led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations DCP Ali Hayatu Kaigama conducted house to house raid sting operation within the areas of Limawa, Anguwan-Daji, Paida, Gwadebe, Anguwan-Sarki, Ogbomosho road, Kasuwan-Gwari, and its environs within Minna metropolis.

Accordingly to him during the raid, the following notorious suspects were arrested with different types of dangerous weapons;
-Abdullahi Ibrahim 38 yrs
-Abdullahi Isah 31yrs
-Jibrin Musa 30yrs
-Moh’d Sani 30yrs
-Samaila Salisu 35yrs
-Bashir Mukhtar 28yrs
-Isah Moh’d 35yrs
-Kabiru Dahiru 23yrs
-Isah Sidi 15yrs
-Musa Abubakar 18yrs
-Ahmadu Ibrahim 20yrs
-Aliyu Ibrahim 17yrs
-Musa Ishaq 20yrs
-Sadiq Yau 16yrs
-Abdullahi Hassan 20yrs
-Alhassan Adamu 16yrs, all of Limawa
-Abdullahi Adamu 20yrs
-Musa Aliyu 15yrs
-Aliyu Shafiu 18yrs
-Aminu Bello 18yrs
-Aminu Umar 18yrs
-Nafson Awal 18yrs
-Musa Lawal 20yrs
-Ismail Ibrahim 25yrs

He added that Others who were arrested at different locations while on patrol and even at the scene by ‘A’ Div patrol team between 10th-12th/03/2023 are;
-Abubakar Umar 25yrs of Paida
-Yahaya Musa 20yrs
-Abdulrahman Sani 15yrs
-Abdulkarim Habibu 20yrs, all of Angwan-Daji

 

Some of the dangerous weapons recovered from the suspects accordingly to the PPRO include; eleven cutlasses, four scissors, five knives, four swords, one garotte, five sticks, eight handset phones, three shisha pipes/pots, a big saw, scale, an iron bar, a bottle containing illicit drugs, lighter, screw driver, bunch of keys, and ATM cards

He stated that the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, psc expressed satisfaction with the operation, and directed that the operation will be a continuous exercise towards ensuring that Minna metropolis is rid of unguarded elements disrupting the peace of the metro, as he reiterated that enough is enough.

 

He appreciated the cooperation and support of members of the public, and assured them of peaceful atmosphere for their economic activities as adequate security is guaranteed.

PPRO stated that all the suspects have been transferred to SCID for discreet investigation and they will be arraigned in court for prosecution with capital offense charges.

No Hiding Place for Adversaries in Kontagora, Niger State -Gen. Abubakar   The Commander, Corps of Artillery, Major General Zakari Abubakar, has declared that there is no longer a safe haven for criminal elements operating in Kontagora and its environs.  General Abubakar made this known during a field demonstration involving the test-firing of artillery guns held at the Nigerian Army Military Training Center (NAMTA) in Kontagora.  The test-firing is aimed at sending a strong message to criminal groups that the area is fully secured and under military watch.   He urged troops to remain vigilant, professional, and proactive in their duties, emphasizing the need to deny miscreants any opportunity to disrupt peace and security in the region.  The Commander also called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations to rid the area of insecurity.   According to him, sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace. “Peace is the foundation of every meaningful development. We all have a responsibility to promote and sustain it,” he stated.  General Abubakar further appealed to religious leaders to continue preaching messages of peace to their congregations, stressing that peace is a universal language that must be upheld by all.  He also extended a call to all aggrieved individuals or groups to lay down their arms, embrace peace, and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens committed to the progress and development of Kontagora.
